"Margin is the space between our loads and our limits."
- Dr. Richard A. Swenson
During this unusual time, the loads we carry have changed. They have decreased in some areas and increased in others. Cancelled activities and more time at home = lighter load.
Health concerns, financial stress, digital meetings, loneliness or cabin fever = heavier load.
In the midst of great change, we pray that you are adjusting well to the loads you carry.
We all have limits; we get tired, frustrated and worn-out. Currently we are experiencing limits in new ways. The awareness of the need to rest and recalibrate is why Shalom exists: for God to "Restore hearts, Enrich lives, and Inspire Hope.” We pray for God’s grace regarding your limits during this trying time.
There might not be a better time than these days to reflect on our loads and limits. We pray for you to discover new areas for margin and to continue the routines that create space for Jesus' lasting peace. Spend time in the Word, worship, take walks, enjoy meals with family, and be blessed with rest and renewal.
The Struggle Brings Strength
Tips, Tricks, and Treats!
Social Media Distancing: Quarantine your phone to a different room or silence the ringer once school starts. Make a list throughout the day of to-do’s, things to research, people to contact, and tackle it all during a break or once school is over. Homeschool can be boring and tedious, and it’s tempting to escape online, but the reward of staying off the phone is finishing school earlier with less frustration.
